Context

The ALTO project is a major infrastructure initiative in Canadian history, aimed at developing over 1,000 km of new passenger rail service between major urban centers, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Design and implement GIS solutions using ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, transforming complex data into dynamic web-based visualizations that meet the needs of transportation projects.
  • Integrate spatial and tabular data (e.g., CAD, GPS, text) through ETL processes, convert data between formats (e.g., CAD to Shapefile), and maintain data accuracy while optimizing the performance of geospatial databases for multi-user environments.
  • Extract, clean, and structure geospatial data from various sources to support transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Automate GIS workflows and data processes using Python scripts, ArcPy, and Power Automate to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and shorten project delivery timelines.
  • Process and analyze LiDAR data, generate Digital Terrain Models (DTMs), and use orthophotos to meet the needs of topographic mapping, spatial analysis, and visualization for transportation projects.
  • Create thematic and analytical maps by applying graphic representation standards and integrating dynamic layers for advanced spatial analyses tailored to stakeholders’ needs.
  • Promote continuous knowledge sharing by mentoring colleagues, delivering GIS training, and actively pursuing professional development to enhance team capabilities and advance one’s career.
  • Communicate complex geospatial analyses to non-technical stakeholders, providing actionable recommendations to support decision-making in transportation projects.

Profile/Skills

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geography, urban planning, or a related field.

Years of Experience: 10+ years of professional GIS experience, with demonstrated expertise in transportation infrastructure projects.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise/Online, Experience Builder, StoryMaps, Survey123, Field Maps, QuickCapture, and ArcGIS Dashboards.
  • In-depth expertise in using ArcGIS Pro and QGIS for processing, analyzing, and visualizing complex geospatial data.
  • Proficiency in ETL processes, coordinate systems, spatial data management, and the design and optimization of geospatial databases for multi-user environments.
  • In-depth expertise in converting data between various formats (text, tabular, CAD, GIS), ensuring data integrity and compatibility.
  • Strong experience in Python programming (including ArcPy) and JavaScript, with expertise in PostgreSQL/PostGIS and GPS data integration for transportation applications.
  • Expertise in integrating BIM (Building Information Modeling) data via Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), including connecting GIS to BIM systems to read data, convert it to 3D scenes, and upload to ArcGIS Enterprise for advanced visualizations and analyses.
  • In-depth knowledge of Power BI, Power Automate, and Power Apps for workflow automation and data visualization.
  • Advanced skills in spatial analysis and complex problem-solving, with the ability to provide innovative solutions for infrastructure projects.
  • Able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing, in both French and English
  • Reason for the bilingualism requirement: You will have the opportunity to work with a diverse clientele, including both Francophone and Anglophone companies.
