Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to residents within the Glen Stor Dun Lodge (GSDL). This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating resident care while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, residents, and families to promote resident-centered care, safety, and well-being.

The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, residents, and families to promote resident-centered care, safety, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' health status, including physical, emotional, and cognitive conditions.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
- Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with physicians' orders and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor residents' responses to treatments and adjust care plans as needed to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs), Personal Support Workers (PSWs), and other care staff.
- Educate residents, families, and staff on health conditions, disease prevention, and wellness strategies.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control measures, LTC regulations, and facility policies.
- Document residents' health status, care plans, and interventions accurately and promptly in electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Respond to medical emergencies, providing immediate and appropriate care while coordinating with healthcare professionals.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance care standards and resident outcomes.
- Assume responsibility for the GSDL in the absence of a supervisor, delivering clinical care to residents while ensuring continuity of services and compliance with established protocols.

Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent from an accredited nursing program.
- Valid registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse.
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in long-term care or geriatrics.
- Clinical Expertise: Strong knowledge of geriatric care, chronic disease management, and palliative care.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to assess complex medical situations and make sound clinical decisions.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to support holistic resident care.
- Conflict Resolution: Ability to address and resolve conflict when present in a positive, diplomatic, resident focused, and results driven manner.
- Leadership: Ability to provide guidance and mentorship to junior nursing staff and support a positive team environment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of Ontario's LTC regulations, Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) standards, and best practices in nursing care.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple residents' care needs efficiently.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience using electronic medical records (EMRs) and healthcare documentation systems.
- Work is performed within the Glen Stor Dun Lodge, involving direct contact with residents.
- This position requires shift work, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Potential exposure to infectious diseases, requiring adherence to infection control protocols.
- Cognitive demands include a high level of responsibility and attention to detail required in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting of residents or medical equipment.
- Successful reference check (two work-related references, with a minimum of one being a direct supervisor)
