Our client is a well-established and highly regarded Design-Build firm with over 40 years of experience in the ICI sector. They specialize in all facets of Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional construction, including commercial spaces, institutional facilities, retail developments, and warehousing projects across Ontario.
Description
As a Senior Project Manager - Design Build - Ottawa, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in Design-Build construction contract sales, project budgeting, and overall project development.
- Leading the delivery of construction project management services for contracts secured by the organization.
- Acting as an ambassador of the company by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, design consultants, subcontractors, and on-site personnel.
- Providing ongoing support to the Site Superintendent, ensuring effective on-site execution and coordination.
- Mentoring and guiding support staff and project coordinators, with the goal of developing them into capable project managers.
- Helping manage the current project portfolio while reporting directly to senior leadership.
- Serving as a key liaison between the corporate office and job sites, ensuring clear communication and alignment across teams.
- Ultimately, this role is designed to evolve into the 'second-in-command' position within the organization, supporting overall leadership and strategic execution.
Profile
Senior Project Manager - Design Build - Ottawa
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive construction experience with leadership and mentoring preferred
- Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles and legislation.
- In-depth knowledge of construction industry including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices.
- Working knowledge of the scopes of work covered by contracts.
- Knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement, industry standards, and other project-related activities, their interfaces, and interdependencies.
- Skill in management and administrative experience.
- Skill in written and oral communication.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
- Assist in finding, assessing, and implanting or adopting new technology.
