This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week over 5 days

Applications are invited for a permanent Specialty Doctor post in Sleep, Breathing Support and Respiratory Medicine which will be based at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH). The successful candidate will join an established Respiratory clinician team.

Applicants must have MRCP, full GMC registration and a licence to practise. You should have extensive training in general respiratory medicine. An interest and relevant subspecialty experience in sleep, long-term ventilation, and remote-management is desirable. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.

The successful candidates will be responsible with multi-disciplinary colleagues and with consultant supervision for the care of inpatients and outpatients with chronic respiratory failure and sleep breathing disorders. Appointees will provide care for breathing support respiratory inpatients at QEUH including those presenting in critical care setting, and outpatients within associated sites in South Sector. The successful appointee would contribute to the delivery and further development of our remote-management, virtual ward and hospital at home services. Vetting, triage and outpatient activity may also include general respiratory clinics in associated areas. The appointee would also contribute to supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees and other clinicians working within the sleep and breathing support service.

  • shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council (GMC); and
  • shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a less than full-time or flexible basis) at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme or specialty registrar locum appointment for training (LAT); or
  • shall have equivalent training, experience or competencies, either in the UK or overseas.

Some flexibility in timing of sessions, taking into account Bank Holidays and prospective cover in colleagues’ absence will be required.
