The Manager, Financial Planning, Analysis and Decision Support plays a key financial role in providing analytical support for business units. Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning Analysis and Decision Support, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the TCHC departmental budget and forecast process. The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis and Decision Support will provide detailed analysis of spending against budget and will provide financial guidance on implications of departmental results in accordance with strategic financial initiatives. The Manager will also establish oversight and delivery of consolidated financial variance analysis. Fundamental skills include strong business, financial and mathematical acumen, experience in tracking actual overall financial results and trends against approved budget, and the ability to build strong working relationships with departmental leads and with other finance functions. The Manager will contribute to a tightly knit team that is results-oriented, and assist with preparing the overall company’s financial plan, budget and forecast, and monthly reporting of actual to budgets variances, including by department and on a consolidated basis, to senior management and shareholders.

What You'll Do
- Manage and lead the annual budgeting process, which will include, but not limited to:
- acting as the financial subject matter expert supporting the development of each business units’ budget
- consulting with the FP&A counterpart at the City of Toronto
- prepare reports and presentation materials to various internal and external users
- Function as the primary financial liaison with departmental leads monthly to:
- ensure timely and accurate delivery of business units’ variance analysis against budgets and forecasts
- review the month’s financial performance compared to budget with the business unit leads, providing financial guidance and/or interpretation of the department’s financial performance
- support the business units in their forecast for the balance of the year as well as looking to continuously improve on departmental forecast submissions
- Manage preparation of corporate financial performance reports, identifying and providing commentary on key drivers, drafting annual business operating budget and capital plan, cash flow reporting, liquidity analysis and overall quarterly forecasts
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to direct reports
- Lead the team in the development and maintenance of financial models to support the decision-making process Provide ad-hoc financial analysis, modelling, and reporting as needed to support business decisions
- University degree in Mathematics, Finance, or Commerce
- Accounting designation i.e., CA, CMA, CGA
- Minimum of 6-8 years corporate general and administration costs analysis related experience with strong acumen in cash flow reporting and analysis
- Previous experience with Yardi and its budgeting module preferred
- Previous firsthand budget and forecast experience
- Expert level financial modeling (preferably Microsoft Excel) and analysis skills required
- Expert level knowledge in Excel macros and formulas
- Extensive knowledge in real estate property management, planning, and strategic planning
- Experience in residential real estate, multi-residential industry
- Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of consolidation, financial analysis, financial instruments
- Familiar with the legislative, political, program and financing aspects of affordable housing
- Oral and written communication skills to deal with a broad range of contacts, and to effectively communicate in management, community, committee, or approval agency meetings
- Organizational skills to identify, prioritize and meet strict and challenging deadlines
- Client-driven, interpersonal, and negotiating skills to engage in departmental leads and staff
- Ability to work independently within a collaborative team in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
