The Role
They are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Manager to join their growing firm in our Abbotsford, Smithers, Terrace, or Prince Rupert. The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of public practice experience and be dedicated to growing with our firm. As a Manager, you will work closely with clients, managers, and partners, providing tax and assurance services in our diverse, fast-paced, paperless environment.

The Role
They are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented Manager to join their growing firm in our Abbotsford, Smithers, Terrace, or Prince Rupert. As a Manager, you will work closely with clients, managers, and partners, providing tax and assurance services in our diverse, fast-paced, paperless environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and review various engagements, including compilations, CRA reviews, personal taxes, trusts and estates, and review engagements.
- Provide mentorship and formal training to CPA students and staff, both in-office and remotely via Microsoft Teams, supporting their professional growth.
- Work closely with partners from all offices on special tasks and engagements, ensuring consistency in quality control and efficient scheduling. Collaborate with partners to plan, assign roles, schedule staff, and meet deadlines.
- Build strong client relationships, delivering exceptional service while identifying opportunities to add value and maximize the client experience.
- Maintain high quality control by reviewing team members' work for accuracy and completeness, providing constructive feedback to ensure professional quality.
- Monitor project timelines, adjust as necessary, and keep clients informed of project statuses, resolving discrepancies to meet deadlines.
- Take a leadership role in networking within the local business and professional community to raise awareness of our client and identify new business development opportunities.
- Contribute innovative ideas and approaches to improve work processes, enhancing firm efficiency and competitiveness.
- Coach and develop team members professionally, conducting formal annual performance reviews to assess progress and set goals.
- Liaise professionally with clients, colleagues, and the leadership team, ensuring clear communication and strong working relationships.
- Be available to work full-time in the office with occasional remote work flexibility.
- Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with 4-5 years of relevant public accounting experience, including expertise in tax compliance, tax planning, and preparing personal and corporate tax returns
- Extensive knowledge and experience in general tax compliance, tax planning, CRA compliance, and reviews, with additional experience in review engagements or audits under ASPE and ASNPO considered an asset
- Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships, understand their business needs, and generate revenue
- Experience managing staff, delegating tasks, and meeting with clients to provide excellent service
- Proficient in accounting and tax software (e.g., Caseware, Taxprep, QuickBooks, Simply Accounting), with strong computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and conflicting demands
- Professional experience in a public accounting firm is required
- Some travel may be required
