Farm Account Manager Position Description

The Farm Account Manager will join a vibrant team of professionals who are passionate about the SYLVIS mission to Make Waste History through sustainable residuals management. In this role, you will develop, grow, and maintain strong partnerships with landowners across British Columbia to secure the land base required to support company growth and sales objectives. Success in this position requires exceptional networking and relationship-building skills, paired with a solid foundation in agronomy to provide sound advice on soil amendment strategies, fertilization practices, and sustainable land management solutions. The Farm Account Manager will be based in the SYLVIS New Westminster office in Metro Vancouver with the opportunity for hybrid work depending on the location. 


Functions and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


Land Procurement, Relationship Development and Management

  • Identify, engage, and secure land required for current and future residuals management projects across BC.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with landowners, agricultural operators, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead outreach activities, including cold-calling, networking, attending industry events, and liaising with agricultural, forestry, and mining associations.
  • Support and manage landowner accounts to ensure long-term satisfaction and ongoing partnerships.


Technical & Agronomic Expertise

  •  Advise landowners on the benefits and proper application of residual products, including biosolids, wood ash, pulp/paper sludge, and other residuals.
  • Assess sites for suitability, considering environmental, operational, regulatory, and agronomic factors.
  • Provide sound, science-based recommendations for soil amendments, fertilization strategies, and sustainable land management.


Operations and Business Development Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, project managers, and business development teams to forecast and secure land partnerships for upcoming projects.
  • Contribute to project planning and delivery alongside environmental scientists, project managers, and field staff.
  • Assist in the development of marketing strategies and landowner-facing materials to support engagement efforts.


Business Growth & Reporting

  • Achieve quarterly and annual land procurement targets to support company growth and project success.
  • Maintain accurate records, land databases, and reports on land procurement activities and outcomes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in environmental science, plant science, soil science, agriculture, or a related field
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license
  • Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.), or Articling Agrologist (A.Ag), or similar designation an asset


Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in agricultural sales, production farming, account management, or consulting, ideally related to rangeland farming or hay production.
  • Proven ability to interpret soil analysis results, develop fertility programs and provide sound fertilizer recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect and build strong relationships with farmers, ranchers, foresters and land owners.
  • Experience communicating technical information to landowners, stakeholders, and the general public in clear language they can understand.
  • Experience using a CRM system to track opportunities and stakeholder data.
  • Experience using GPS and mapping tools to produce site maps and spatially manage land resources data.
  • Ability to travel extensively across British Columbia (company vehicles available for travel)
  • Familiarity with residuals (biosolids, wood ash, pulp/paper sludge, etc.) is an asset 


Compensation

$75,000-$115,000 per year, based on experience
