Business Unit Overview
The Automation Division is responsible for providing engineered solutions, integrated systems, automation programming and technical support to Lincoln Electric’s ongoing sales efforts specifically focused upon fume extraction, flexible and hard automation products and services.
Automation is further responsible for the provision of technical support to direct end-user customers for service / maintenance contracts and warrantee related solutions, as well as, troubleshooting and problem solving with respect to customer issues.
The Automation Team is expected to deliver results while contributing to Lincoln Electric’s ongoing business activities and priorities, as well as, meeting internal and external customer requirements in a timely, discreet and ethical manner.

Major Responsibilities
- To report directly to the Project Development & Customer Service Manager or their designate on an ongoing basis and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to the on-time delivery of all projects in a safe and timely manner
- Be the technical Liaison between the Quoting Team, Project Teams, Engineering, & Production to support Customer’s project based enquires.
- Support field issues working with Engineering and the Customer to provide an approved resolution in a timely manner
- Support the Engineering team for project scope review by ensuring the design is compliant
- Work on building relationships with existing vendors and assist with finding new vendors as per the business requirements.
- Develop overall Project Schedule to ensure all departments complete action items by scheduled dates
- Work collaboratively and coordinating with Engineering, Production, and Service Teams
- Conduct meetings to ensure the projects are built in accordance with the plans, quality standards, specifications, schedule and cost expectations; delivers projects within the approved capital and budget timelines.
- Liaise and collaborate with the department staff in an advisory capacity on matters pertaining to project activities within the company, specifically:
- Production scheduling
- Manufacturing/Production of Projects
- Raw materials for projects
- Work-in-Process for projects
- Finished Projects
- Quality and quality control of projects
- Inventory control of project materials/equipment
- Good Manufacturing practices
- Lead meetings for assigned projects such as pre-submittal meetings and pre-construction meetings
- Conduct operations meetings, review schedules, back-orders and break-downs
- Provide management oversight for all phases of the manufacturing project, including production, design, fabrication, installation and make sure work is proceeding on schedule and within budget
- Work with Sales and Production to identify client needs, developing action plans and identifying deliverables
- Handle Customer enquiries and complaints with Sales and Service
- Responsible to ensure all assigned projects are managed to meet or exceed customers’ requirements
- Must liaise with US counterparts as required and to leverage the global knowledge and direction in regards to the operations of the automation division
- To fully abide and actively support Lincoln Electrics EH&s policies, practices and procedures with respect to protecting the environment, the conservation of nature resources and the Health & Safety of all employees
- To effectively participate in the company Global Performance Management Program
- To continually contribute to the profitability of the company and ongoing business operations by initiating, recommending and implanting continuous improvement strategies and initiatives
- Adhere to any Compliance policies and requirements
- University Degree in Engineering ( Preferably Mechanical Design) – 4 year program
- P. Eng License or working towards licensing - preferred
- Strong aptitude of Welding, automation & positioning equipment experience and/or knowledge.
- 3 or more year’s previous Engineering experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment with proven leadership abilities.
- Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
- A clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures and other operational issues faced by the organization.
- Experience successfully implementing Lean/Six Sigma tools which created impactful business improvements.
- Have good knowledge of manufacturing processes to provide input and improve design practices.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
