The Facility Manager position is based in Vancouver, BC supporting a large multi-year facilities management contract with BC Hydro.
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Regional Facility Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of BC Hydro’s corporate office facilities in the Metro Vancouver Region. They will also provide general oversight for Vancouver Island Region sites. This pivotal role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient functioning of our facilities, directly supporting the delivery of the BC Hydro Facilities Management Services Agreement.
Responsibilities
As the on-site leader, the Facility Manager will coordinate and oversee all facilities management activities, working closely with site leadership, suppliers, and BC Hydro internal teams to uphold asset integrity and respond swiftly to incidents and emergencies. The successful candidate will ensure all work performed by staff and subcontractors is completed safely and efficiently and is coordinated to minimize impact to operations. This role demands a self-motivated professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. They will execute all tasks safely and in accordance with local and federal regulations and ensure that all Black & McDonald workers and subcontractors adhere to identical standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide site-based management of all assigned BC Hydro facilities in the Metro Vancouver Region and oversee supervision of Vancouver Island Region.
- Provide vacation coverage to the Facility Supervisor for Vancouver Island Region
- Manage, coordinate, and schedule the activities of staff and contractors.
- Manage all work associated with operations and maintenance of assigned facilities.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with local site leadership.
- Conduct routine site visits and ensure completion of Building Condition Checklists.
- Review and validate hazardous or deteriorating conditions, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
- Ensure photographic and digital records of site conditions and completed work are captured and maintained
- Plan and execute work in accordance with B&M corporate safety policy and provincial regulations.
- Ensure facilities maintenance activities are in alignment with contract requirements and Service Level Agreements.
- Oversee maintenance and project related activities, requisition of materials and supplies.
- Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity.
- Prepare quotes and repair recommendations.
- Support Corporate Office sites (Edmonds and Dunsmuir Campuses) across Metro Vancouver, providing oversight and management of all staff.
- Support the Operations Manager and account management team with regional coordination and feedback.
- Maintain a safe and respectful working environment.
- Attend regular client operations meetings as required.

- Completion of secondary school required
- Formal training in supervisory responsibilities is preferred
- Power Engineering or other trades-related educational certification is an asset
- Minimum 5–7 years of experience in facilities management, preferably in a multi-site role
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred
- Strong understanding of building systems, asset management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working with public sector clients or utility providers is an asset.
- Strong supervision, communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
- Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel), web-based applications, and digital tools for site documentation and reporting
- Ability to follow instructions, both written and verbal
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Proven planning and scheduling skills
- Must have a clean BC driver’s abstract and hold a valid BC driver’s licence and able to travel between site locations in Vancouver and Vancouver Island
- Must be able to pass criminal background check
