Our Sports Development, Wellness and Culture Department is looking for a dedicated Casual Program Instructor II to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
The standard workweek consists of an average of 10 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting Salary $19.67 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Our Sports Development, Wellness and Culture Department is looking for a dedicated Casual Program Instructor II to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
- responsible for planning and implementing age appropriate programing for children aged 0 - 5 in a warm, welcoming, play-based setting, as well as children aged 6 - 12 in a fun, active, play-based setting.
- part of an energetic team devoted to social, physical, emotional, intellectual, and relative development of children.
- ensure the safety of the participants while providing high quality care and supervision.
- will demonstrate leadership and a positive approach to play and play-based learning on a daily basis.
- promotion, delivery and evaluation of a variety of programs for children between the ages of 0 -12 years. These program plans will incorporate all fundamentals of play and must be developmentally and age appropriate.
- supervision and safety of the program's participants
- opening and closing facilities
- cleanliness of program site
- set up and take down of the program
- help to expose children to a variety of activities including cooking, athletics, arts, and more
- must be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends
- have prior experience planning programs for children aged 0 -12
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Must possess Standard First Aid, CPR Level C, as well as AED training prior to hire date
- Intervention check and Police Record check (completed within one month of employment)
- One year of previous experience leading children's recreation and sport programming, or relevant training
- A clear understanding of 'child-centered programming'
- Ability to supervise and manage the safety of 30 children with the assistance of a team member
- Confidence to make on-the-spot decisions
- Adapt quickly to group dynamics
- clear communication skills
- must be fun and energetic with an aptitude for working with children
- experience in mentoring and program planning
