Hours: 40 hrs per week (Mon to Fri) based on-site with potential hybrid working available

As the Project Manager, you will be responsible for the management of projects related to the delivery of solutions for the global armed forces.
The role will include the management of complex projects, including engineering, prototyping, limited fabrication and technical investigations. You will be part of a small but growing Canadian team that takes pride in delivering high quality products and solutions that make a real difference to armed forces. Your day will consist of working cross-functionally with colleagues in Business Development, Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, and Quality in both our Canadian and UK offices.

JOB DUTIES
- Strategic and tactical management of allocated projects ensuring delivery on time, to the right quality standards and to agreed project budgets.
- Work with a cross functional team, including Engineers, Quality, Production and Business Development in the definition and co-ordination of the resources required and assigned to projects.
- Liaising with customers, giving presentations and briefings on projects.
- Work with Engineers and designers in the definition and capture of engineering requirements, defined through work breakdown structures and compliance charts.
- Preparing draft evaluation plans, criteria and evaluation schedules.
- Developing, planning, analyzing, evaluating and prioritizing deliverables and requirements.
- Provision of robust management information reporting on progress both internally and externally.
- Monitoring the design, implementation and operations startup of the project against established goals, objectives and milestones.
- Development and maintenance of Project Management Plans and associated governance documentation to ensure the continued viability of the project.
- Maintain a clear, comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities for all allocated projects and a clear understanding of necessary actions to follow up as appropriate.
- Ownership of the financial budget, with support from the project accountant community, and forecasting future risks and opportunities.
- Assuming leadership at the appropriate phases of planning, action and evaluation.

CRITICAL OUTPUTS AND ACHIEVEMENT REQUIRED
- Successful completion of project milestones on time, to cost and on schedule.
- Develop and maintain key project documentation such as schedules, budgets, risk registers, etc.
- Track and report internal and external Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across multiple projects
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Post-secondary education (university degree or college diploma)
- Valid Project Management Institute Project Management Professional certification.
- 8-10 years of applied experience as a Project Manager.
- A high level of technical proficiency underpinned by formal technical/engineering qualifications
- Experienced Project Management professional with strong leadership skills & demonstrable track record in successful project setup, execution & delivery.
- Excellent communication skills and commercial awareness.
- Proficient in all Microsoft packages, including MS Project.
- A self-starter who can work independently and effectively under minimal supervision.
- Knowledge and experience in the effective use of Project Management tools and techniques
- Ability to quickly identify the critical path and mitigate risks as they are identified.
- Ability to create effective working relationships within a challenging environment, and leading multifunctional teams.
- Strong negotiation skills with customers, management, peers, and subordinates.
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Eligible for Secret Clearance
Desirable
- Experience working in the defence industry.
- Experience working on military vehicle platforms.
