Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Projects, the Project Engineer is responsible for the successful execution of capital and non-routine projects. This includes ensuring the work is carried out safely, on schedule, within budget, and is technically sound and of the required quality. This role will be responsible for managing multi-disciplinary projects from initial project development through project execution, turnover, and closeout and may also manage projects of various disciplines; however, this position will have a larger emphasis on mechanical projects. The ideal candidate for this position will excel at managing a diverse and substantial workload, while demonstrating exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills—both written and verbal.
This position is located at Nutrien's Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta site and is not eligible for remote work.

What You Will Do
- Provide preliminary development of new projects
- Liaise with external agencies to obtain appropriate data and approval
- Execute completely and timely all internal documents required for project progression and archival reference
- Coordinate colleagues from various internal departments to complete, review, and accept project deliverables
- Coordinate external resources such as engineering consultants and construction contractors to complete project deliverables safely, of the right quality, on time, and on budget
- Preparing budgets, schedules and resource allocation plans for multi-discipline projects
- Managing contractors including engineering consultants and construction contractors
- Collaborating with stakeholders to progress project work (business case, project scope, engineering design, procurement, project planning, and project execution)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Diploma in Engineering Technology
- Registration with APEGA or ASET (P.Eng., P.Tech., CET) is required PMP certification is an asset
- 8+ years’ experience working in an industrial plant, with 5+ years' focusing on project management
- Understanding of and familiarity with all disciplines of engineering
- Working knowledge of mechanical industrial equipment and relevant codes including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, compressors, and structures
- Ability to learn and become proficient in Nutrien project software tools (SAP, Planisware, Primavera, Microsoft Office)
