YOUR IMPACT
The Cloud Services team is at the core of delivering and operating our commercial products to our customers at OpenText. You will join a team of global database reliability engineers to design, automate, build, operate, and continuously improve the database services that back our customer-facing SaaS products. You will be responsible for operating a highly available design that includes security, scalability, monitoring, upgradeability, and data backup and recovery across non-production and production environments. You will work in a fast-paced organization while quickly learning new skills and consistently creating ways to meet service-level agreements for our global cloud services.

What The Role Offers
- Support the automatic deployment of corporate security auditing/compliance software with Terraform, Ansible, Shell scripting, and GitLab, etc.
- Support the automation, implementation, and continuous improvement of highly available and scalable database services across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL with
- Support customer environments by performing routine maintenance activities such as backups, restores, patching, and upgrades, including scheduled weekend support.
- Develop and manage monitoring and telemetry solutions to proactively assess database health, performance, and utilization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with development, architecture, and support teams to design, deploy, and maintain new and existing database solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Ensure data integrity, system resilience, and business continuity by supporting the implementation and validation of high availability and disaster recovery configurations.
- Lead or participate in incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and post-mortem documentation for service-impacting events.
- Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions for automating database operations using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Support cloud-native transformations, including the migration of legacy VM-based deployments to managed database services in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Identify and drive tactical and strategic improvements to database platforms, focusing on service health, performance, reliability, observability, and scalability.
- Contribute to long-term capacity planning, growth forecasting, and resource optimization efforts.
- Participate in global on-call rotations, ensuring round-the-clock support coverage and rapid incident response.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong skills in automation and Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Shell scripting, and GitLab
- Strong Linux Operating Systems skills, including but not limited to kernel optimization for Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Proficient in at least one of Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL database administration (installation, configuration, upgrades, performance tuning), with a strong motivation to broaden expertise to the other two database platforms.
- Experience managing large-scale, complex database environments in enterprise and Linux-based systems.
- Familiar with performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and workload analysis.
- Good understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and replication strategies.
- Familiarity with private and public cloud platforms (VMware, AWS, GCP, Azure) and their managed database services (e.g., RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL).
- Experience in using monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, PagerDuty).
- Familiar with orchestration and automation tools (e.g., RunDeck, Ansible Tower).
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams (development, operations, support).
- Proven ability to mentor and coach other engineers to grow database expertise across the team.
