As a Principal Architect in the property & construction industry, you will lead the architectural design and planning of large-scale construction projects while ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The successful candidate will also serve as the Architect of Record and majority owner (51%) of a newly established architectural firm registered with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and holding a Certificate of Practice.

Description
- Lead the architectural design and planning process for complex construction projects.
- Collaborate with construction teams, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
- Oversee compliance with building codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Develop and present design concepts, drawings, and models to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior architects and design teams.
- Ensure project timelines and budgets are adhered to without compromising on quality.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and address any design-related issues.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to enhance project outcomes.

Profile
A successful Principal Architect should have:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or related field.
- Professional architect license required with OAA.
- 10+ years of experience in architectural design and project leadership.
- Strong portfolio of completed projects across various sectors.
- Excellent knowledge of building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards.
- Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Experience mentoring and developing junior staff.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- 6+ years practicing as an architect and leading a team of interns, designers and technologists
- 6+ years' experience applying best practices in similar role
- 6+ years' experience working on mid/high-rise development projects
- Possess excellent graphic, 3D rendering, presentation design skills and abilities (portfolio required)
- Ability to communicate in a small team environment
- · Confident in the utilization of MS Office, 3D Studio Max, Sketch-Up, Revit etc.
- · Attention to detail and accuracy
- · Ability to meet deadlines and follow-through with strong organizational skills
- · Experience with running a practice preferred
- · Experience in contact negotiations and issuing payment certificates
