About The Role

The Engineering Manager leads our engineering team in the realization of the company’s vision. The Manager oversees the progress of our engineering projects, and who is present to support the team. Through his knowledge, expertise and leadership, he manages and supports the engineering team and contributes to its growth.

Objectives

  • Act as a leader for the Engineering Department;
  • Ensure the development and professional growth of his or her team to meet current and future engineering challenges;
  • Meet Transport Canada criteria for DAO delegation;
  • Drive continuous improvements initiatives and the development of processes and guidelines for engineering activities;
  • Manage R&D projects definition and execution;
  • Represent the engineering department within the management team;
  • Define and track goals and objectives for the engineering department.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Efficiency:

  • Maintains a global view of the department’s activities on repair, manufacturing and spare parts projects;
  • Identify and establish department priorities and assign projects to the team;
  • Maintain collaboration with colleagues in other departments in order to propose appropriate repair solutions to our customers;
  • Ensure continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures;
  • Act as the escalation point for technical issues and provide direction for problem resolution.

Engineering Department Development

  • Serve as a mentor to the engineering team;
  • Define the training needs of the team;
  • Plan de manpower needs for the team;
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap of engineering capabilities.

Research And Development

  • Identify capability medium/long term technological gaps and needs;
  • Develop a technological roadmap of R&D initiatives to fill gaps;
  • Provide guidance and direction in the execution of R&D projects;
  • Support financial reporting and funding applications for R&D projects.

Your Ideal Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering;
  • Relevant 8 to 10 years of experience to successfully meet the challenges of this position;
  • Meet Transport Canada’s criteria for the DAO delegation, a strong asset;
  • Knowledge and experience working with AMO/MRO and TCCA DAO organizations;
  • A person with a passion for aeronautics who lead by example and committed to the vision of the company;
  • Bilingual (French and English*).
  • The position requires a very good knowledge of English, both oral and written. The position involves reading and understanding technical documents in English on a daily basis, especially from international companies, as well as regular communication with customers, suppliers and other international stakeholders.
