Our client, a stable and long-standing organization with a close-knit team, is seeking a detail-oriented and independent Financial Advisor to join their team in Dartmouth, NS.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a key role responsible for full-cycle accounting and financial reporting while providing financial advice and support to the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives with autonomy team and enjoys a mix of day-to-day accounting and strategic financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Develop, recommend, and manage annual budgets and forecasts, with variance analysis and reporting
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, including invoice preparation, coding, expense reports, and payments
- Complete bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and statutory filings (HST/GST, pension, LTD)
- Manage cost recovery processes, reporting, and invoicing to federal and provincial governments
- Lead year-end processes, including audit coordination and preparation of working papers
- Administer employee benefits, pensions, and year-end payroll adjustments
- Prepare financial reports and briefing notes for committees and senior leadership
- Provide financial advice and support to organizational programs, including procurement, bids, and participant funding programs
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- CPA designation preferred; strong experience considered in lieu
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Strong technical skills in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis
- Comfortable working independently as a one-person finance function
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to balance day-to-day accounting with advisory responsibilities
- Available to start as soon as possible (flexible for candidates requiring notice)
Compensation & Work Environment:
- Salary range: $95,000 – $112,000
