Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Advisor, Conventional Pipeline Commercial role will report to the Director, Conventional Commercial. The Advisor will work closely with various internal and external customers and contribute to the evaluation and execution of optimization projects, new infrastructure initiatives, economic, financial and market modelling and preparation of presentation materials that support IPL’s initiatives. This role requires a strong analytical skill set, a sound understanding of crude oil pricing, and creative thinking.

Monday - Friday, 40 hour per week
As this position is identified as security sensitive, employment of a final candidate will be conditional upon completion of employment verification and criminal background check assessments with satisfactory results.

Description
Located out of our Calgary office, the individual in the Advisor, Conventional Pipeline Commercial role will report to the Director, Conventional Commercial. The Advisor will work closely with various internal and external customers and contribute to the evaluation and execution of optimization projects, new infrastructure initiatives, economic, financial and market modelling and preparation of presentation materials that support IPL’s initiatives. This role requires a strong analytical skill set, a sound understanding of crude oil pricing, and creative thinking.
Key Activities And Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and utilize reports, tools to support existing commercial business requirements
- Develop financial models and valuation analysis for commercial projects using sound valuation principles, accurately capturing a wide array of assumptions across operations, integrity, financing, accounting, tax, etc.
- Work with existing and new customers to understand and develop new opportunities for IPL
- Preparation and examination of crude oil pricing, netbacks, and competitor pipelines to understand opportunities and challenges to IPL assets
- Preparation of presentations, business cases, customer proposals, agreements, and financial analysis to help inform decisions
- Conduct market, industry, company and competitor research to support business needs
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Economics preferred
- 3+ years of experience in a quantitative-focused role, such as corporate development, business development, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, or financial analysis would be an asset
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly in financial and business modeling
- Experience with industry and market research, financial modeling, and valuation techniques
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and effectively communicate financial and business information effectively
- Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-functional teams
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning
