Job Summary
We are seeking experienced Senior Construction Surveyors to join our expanding team. Reporting to the Operations Manager, and working alongside some of the best surveyors in the business, our Senior Surveyors are self-starters who take pride in their work, are seeking to grow and expand their careers in the Survey Industry, want to continually learn through practical on the job experience as well as gain opportunities through theoretical knowledge from the classroom, are physically fit, and enjoy working outdoors for extended periods of time regardless of the weather!

While still reporting to our Edmonton Branch, the candidate should have a willingness to travel when occasional projects fall outside of the general Edmonton area.

Key Accountabilities

SAFETY

  • Actively participate in corporate HSE Program

  • Actively participate in client HSE Programs ensuring requirements are understood and met

  • Complete all required Safety paperwork

  • Leading by example, ensuring all corporate safety program elements are implemented

  • Support and participate in Safety Committee activities

  • Conduct project/field safety audits when required

SURVEYING

  • Provide technical field support for survey operations

  • Prepare documentation of survey activities including Survey Field Notes

  • Provide supervision and leadership of survey crew

  • Assist in developing skills of, and mentoring junior crew members

  • Actively manage and develop strong client relationships

  • Carry out various types of survey work accurately and efficiently

  • Maintain good communication between field and Project Manager

  • Actively participate in the Quality Program, seeking continuous improvement of processes and procedures

  • Maintain and ensure field equipment and vehicles are in safe and good working order

Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in construction surveying

  • Experience with Piling Scopes of Work required

  • Geomatics Technician diploma or equivalent is an asset

  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License (with a clean 5-year abstract)

  • Ability to read and understand maps and drawings

  • Knowledge and experience working with Trimble GPS and Total Station Equipment

  • CSTS 20/WHMIS, CSO, First Aid and H2S Alive Safety Certification

  • Ground Disturbance training is an asset

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Strong computer skills

  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Detail oriented and works with a high degree of accuracy and care

  • Ability to handle stressful situations with composure

  • Experience supervising crew members an asset

  • Strong work ethic and proven reliability

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision

  • Proven ability to learn, take direction and accept coaching feedback

WORK CONDITIONS

  • This position is in the field, therefore individuals must be comfortable and physically fit for outdoor work for extended periods of time regardless of the weather.

  • Candidates applying for this position must be local to the Edmonton area

  • Candidates must be eligible to permanently work in Canada, or presently have the required approvals to work permanently in Canada.
