POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Manager, the Application Analyst is responsible for providing product expertise needed for successful management of the applications within their portfolio. Key responsibilities include system analysis, systems maintenance, and ongoing production support of computer applications throughout GBIN. The Application Analyst works in close collaboration with fellow Hospital Information Services staff members and users in addition to associated Health Centre clinical staff in order to ensure that electronic system(s) meet user needs. The Application Analyst will remain current with the application functionality, and is responsible for communicating that to the ‘supported department’, prioritizing and implementing the desired modules/functionality. All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and others by ensuring that health and safety policies are followed.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required
- 2 or 3 Year degree or diploma in a related discipline, or member of a Regulated Health Profession
- Relevant experience in the field or a related field being support
- Current or recent experience as a member of an end-user department
- Cerner Millennium Specialist Certificate(s) – relevant to the application(s) being supported
- Certified in Cerner Architectural Troubleshooting and Issue Management course
- Minimum 2 years of experience in application support – Cerner or equivalent application
- Successful completion of PowerChart, Orders, Registration, Scheduling, Clinical Documentation training
- Solid understanding of policies and processes in the user department(s) for which the application(s) is being supported
- Demonstrated understanding of the complexity and integration between Cerner application modules
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word and Excel (to be tested)
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology (to be tested)
- Proven self-starter with sound judgment and decision making ability with evidence of innovative, critical and logical thinking
- Meticulous planning and successful completion and support of highly complex projects including design, written change control processes, test scripts and implementation of change
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple conflicting demands
- Diplomacy, tact and ability to negotiate deliverables with user community and colleagues
- Advocate for change to an electronic environment
- Demonstrated understanding of health service integration
- Demonstrated customer service and responsiveness required
- Availability for overtime and flexibility in hours of work – some weekend work required
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and use of vehicle to support travel
- Ability to travel off-site and internationally
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
