Key Responsibilities And Tasks

Audits, Reviews, and Compilations

  • Prepare CaseWare working papers for Compilation engagements with small business clients, as well as Audit and Review engagements for publicly listed companies.

External Financial Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements, notes, and management's discussion and analysis (MD&A).
  • Monitor changes in accounting standards, ensure timely compliance, provide IFRS interpretations, and prepare clear and comprehensive technical accounting memos.
  • Ensure full compliance with all current IFRS reporting and disclosure requirements.
  • Liaise with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Maintain and manage the external reporting calendar.
  • Analyze, implement, and communicate process/system changes required to meet evolving financial reporting standards.

Taxation

  • Oversee all tax compliance matters with service providers and government agencies.
  • Provide support with tax planning strategies as required.

Other Responsibilities

  • Assist with various corporate matters as needed.
  • Prepare monthly budgets and financial reports.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to clients' internal controls.
  • Perform internal audit procedures periodically.
  • Contribute to other special projects as assigned.

Qualifications And Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of Canadian work experience, including at least 2 years in public practice or with a publicly listed company.
  • Enrolled in CPA PEP with successful completion of CFE (or newly designated CPA).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, with the ability to research and recommend positions on complex accounting issues.

Skills And Attributes

  • Proficiency in CaseWare, Profile, QuickBooks, and Sage 50.
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and internal controls (COSO framework).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Excellent client service orientation.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
