Makerspace Tutors assist users in learning, troubleshooting, and building their digital fabrication and project skills in the NAIT Makerspace. This will include answering questions at the Makerspace Help Desk, coaching users on effective equipment use, and helping users troubleshoot their projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff the Makerspace Help Desk
- Provide information on the Makerspace to users who come into the space.
- Provide one-on-one instruction on makerspace technology.
- Offer basic troubleshooting and equipment assistance.
- Maintain Makerspace statistics.
- Ensure Makerspace is clean, safe, and organized.
- Use makerspace technology to create programming supplies and library marketing materials
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to use 3D printers and/or other digital fabrication technology such as CNC mills or laser engravers.
- Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
- Proficient in learning new technologies
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of at least one semester of course load at NAIT with a GPA of 3.75.
- Must be registered in NAIT courses throughout employment.
- Experience working with others in using and troubleshooting new technologies is an asset
- Equivalencies may be considered.
Remuneration: $15.00 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of stat holidays and vacation accrual. (Classification – Tutor I).
This casual opportunity is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
