PICKER, STOCKER + RECEIVER – Cold Storage

This is a flex role in the cooler + freezer storage areas of our Warehouse. It invovles Order Picking, Receiving and Stocking. There may be some routine to the scheduling of the variety of tasks, and there may be some spontaneity depending on business needs.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
ORDER PICKING:
– Pick products as indicated on individual pick lists
– Place products on pallet such that they are stable, secure and well-balanced
– Be familiar with warehouse layout, including directional access and location codes
– Meet and exceed expectations related to accuracy and productivity
– Adhere to safety standards, both in equipment use and in picking procedures
– Learn and follow steps to choose correct pallet for different customers
– Follow procedures when product is out-of-stock
– Place pallets in correct staging area (for QC to check or for shipping)
– As directed, wrap pallets and prepare for shipping
– Complete paperwork as required (pallet tags, tracking paperwork, etc.)
– Learn and follow spill clean-up procedures
– Participate in inventory as required
– Assist with general warehouse clean up/housekeeping
– Follows Food Safety and GDP guidelines
RECEIVING:
– Unload trucks and containers with forklifts and pallet jacks
– Check and record temperature, only accept products in the correct temperature range
– Ensure that all paperwork for the receipt of goods is in order, correct and legible, and signed correctly (i.e. PO, waybill, packing slip, custom papers), and reaches the purchasing department by established deadlines
– Ensure that discrepancies, overages, shortages and damage are noted and reported
– Prepare incoming goods including re-palletization, pallet identification for overstock; direct replenishment; and overstock put-away
– Store product according to the guidelines and practices and within the established deadlines (reference inventory levels on Reception Note to help assess correct put-away decisions)
– Ensure that overstock is correctly labelled for proper storage
– Ensure proper stock rotation
– Ensure size change forms are placed with product and/or on location and follow up paperwork procedure is done
STOCKING:
– Ensure that locations are filled with product that has been received into the warehouse.
– “Top-Up”: it is the Stocker’s responsibility to regularly review orders throughout the day that have out-of-stocks, and fill any items on the order if stock is available in the warehouse.
– Move inventory in the computer system to correct locations. ie. from stickering location to primary location or from primary location to a problem stock location etc.
– Consult with the Shift Supervisor or Manager regarding special deals that may affect the workload priorities.
– Be available to take ‘on demand calls’ from the Order Pickers when a location needs to be restocked.
– Work up and down each aisle, restocking locations that are empty or low, being aware of products which have priority to be filled (i.e. fast-moving products).
– Ensure that stock is put in its location, not on the floor beside the location, including split pallet locations.
QUALIFICATIONS + EXPECTATIONS:
– Must be able to work in cold temperatures (cooler + freezer) + have previous warehouse picking/stocking/receiving experience
– High level of physical ability and endurance
– Comfortable working at elevated heights
– Can lift up to 50lbs
– Repeated lifting, bending, twisting, standing, reaching
– Attention to detail and focus on accuracy
– Ability to work autonomously; be self-directed and complete work independently
– Reading comprehension of alphanumeric codes
– Food Safety trained
– Machine operation – Jungheinrich (training provided)
– Knowledge of warehouse (distribution) operations and flow
COMPENSATION + WORKING CONDITIONS:
This is a full-time and permanent position (40 hours/week) with options for overtime as required. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 7am-3pm.
The starting rate is $24.85/hour. We have scheduled wage increases based on hours worked and an annual company-wide Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) wage review.
