What You’ll Be Doing

Responsible for providing highly effective sales leadership and management of strategic initiatives to the national team of Financial Planners including Financial Planning Specialists (FPS), Wealth Strategists (WS), Directors of Wealth Strategies (DWS), Senior Trust and Estate Consultants (STEC), and Estate Planning Specialists (EPS). In pursuit of Private Wealth’s mission to be the recognized leader within CIBC and marketplace, Financial Planners are focused on the accumulation and preservation of high-value clients' wealth, ensuring effective partnership with other CIBC providers of wealth management services. Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, compliance guidelines and internal strategies and policies in order to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. Managing and motivating the Financial Planners sales team to achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales and business mix targets.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Relationships Building- Work collaboratively with Wealth Management and Commercial Banking leadership, and support oversight of the PW National Office to develop strategic imperatives, KPIs, and planning/sales strategies. Conduct market, competitive, and national assessments. Analyze and optimize sales team productivity. Establish regional and local sales targets, and define and implement action plans. Compile and leverage data to generate leads, enhance reporting and streamline processes. Utilize technology to eliminate redundancies and increase the capacity of all PW planners
  • Cross-functional Relationships- Manage a diverse team of Head Office leaders who oversee Centralized Planning Services, Operations and Marketing support, and Strategic Initiatives. This division of Private Wealth Planning Services will ensure strong coordination between all sub-departments and develop synergies to improve asset consolidation and generate incremental revenue for the business as a whole. Effectively work with Private Wealth Managing Director to integrate the Private Wealth Management offerings across the country. Help direct team of planners to contribute to the growth of PWM businesses including CIBC Trust, CIBC Wood Gundy, Private Investment Counsel and Private Banking. Ensure effective partnership with Financial Planners, Wealth Advisors, Senior Trust and Estate Consultants, Estate Planning Specialists, Investment Counsellors and Private Bankers.
  • Leadership- Provide effective leadership and strategic insight to all Private Wealth Financial Planning sales teams. Help improve planning and sales performance, general leadership and model commitment to the planning culture. Create a collaborative and fully integrated culture where all planners can work cohesively to achieve ambitious asset and revenue targets. Counsel employees on learning opportunities and career paths (IDP). Arrange and coordinate professional development to maintain and increase investment industry, planning and product knowledge of the sales team. Evaluate performance of the head office team, recognize and reward success. Interview prospective employees and make related staffing decisions. Influence employee commitment to the organization, to the team, and to their job by building team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training. Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance and by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities. Create a positive work environment and being an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values.
  • Market Intelligence- Ensure sales team adheres to regulatory requirements, compliance guidelines and internal strategies and policies. Maintain awareness and knowledge of relevant existing and impending policies and legislation. Ensure staff is well informed and capable to represent the area in a professional fashion. Participates in the development of sales and compliance guidelines, procedures and sales compensation plans with national office, ensuring they are current and effective.

Who You Are

  • You have a degree with a MBA or other Strategic Business courses/accreditation
  • You can demonstrate experience in the Financial Planning industry and have working knowledge of existing and impending legislation and regulations relating to activities of CIBC Financial Planning You have proven knowledge of sales and investment planning. You have developed problem solving skills to assess sales performance and to analyze efficiency of sales practices and procedures
