Role Overview: As an Environmental Specialist, you will be based in our corporate office, supporting EllisDon’s environmental team in implementing programs across all business lines. This position is primarily office-based, with a focus on providing technical guidance, practical insight, and support to ensure environmental decisions align with project goals and deliver high-value, responsible outcomes. Candidates should have 5–10 years of relevant experience.

Candidates should have 5–10 years of relevant experience.
You As An Environmental Specialist Will
- Support the application and ongoing improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS) across multiple project sites, ensuring alignment with ISO 14001 standards.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal environmental regulations throughout all phases of construction, maintenance, and operations.
- Assist in the development, review, and submission of environmental plans, reports, and documentation to maintain consistency and regulatory adherence.
- Provide technical input during RFP development and bid pursuits, identifying environmental risks and contributing to mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate environmental considerations into design, construction, and operational planning.
- Liaise with subcontractors and field teams to ensure environmental expectations are clearly communicated and met.
- Conduct site inspections and audits to identify environmental risks and support corrective actions.
- Participate in internal environmental reviews and contribute to stakeholder and regulatory engagement materials.
- Administer EllisDon’s corporate environmental management software, ensuring accurate data entry, KPI tracking, and performance analysis.
- Contribute to the development of standardized tools, templates, and checklists to streamline environmental planning and reporting across business units.
- You have 5–10 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within construction, infrastructure, or transit projects.
- You have a degree in environmental science, planning, geography, engineering, or a related discipline.
- You have a strong working knowledge of federal and provincial environmental regulations, permitting processes, and assessment frameworks.
- You have experience supporting experience supporting groundwater management and environmental risk mitigation strategies.
- You have familiarity with ISO 14001 and EMS implementation.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving, continuous improvement, and team support.
