The opportunity

As a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist, you’ll be a strategic recruitment advisor supporting Ontario Teachers’ growth by sourcing, attracting, and hiring top talent. You’ll collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand their resourcing needs and craft effective recruitment strategies that elevate our brand in the talent market.

Who You’ll Work With

Reporting to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, you’ll partner with hiring managers across the organization to deliver tailored recruitment solutions aligned with business goals and workforce plans. While your primary focus will be on technology roles, you may recruit for roles across all our divisions.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop a keen understanding of Ontario Teachers’ and assigned business teams, operating model, culture, services, and pension industry to understand the unique needs for each position and to attract high-caliber candidates.
  • Partner with our People & Culture Business Partners and key internal leaders to understand the workforce plan and develop a proactive recruitment strategy to identify and nurture a talent pool utilizing Beamery channels.
  • Generate qualified candidates through creative recruitment strategies such as employee referrals campaigns, social media, job boards, direct sourcing, diversity-focused partnerships, and industry/campus events.
  • Maintain relationships with external organizations, community groups, and diversity-focused networks to expand our talent pools and promote our employer brand as an inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Provide guidance and expertise to hiring managers on recruitment best practices, including market insights, DEI principles, candidate sourcing strategies, and interview techniques. 
  • Advise and oversee adherence to OTPP’s established recruitment processes and policies.
  • Partner with the hiring manager to create an inclusive job posting and advise on job posting strategies and recommended channels for attracting qualified candidates.
  • Proactively identify potential challenges or obstacles in filling open positions and propose solutions to address them.
  • Partner with the hiring managers to define the key selection criteria and establish evaluation methods for assessing candidate suitability, leveraging our available technology assessment tools and case studies, etc.
  • Review resumes and screen candidates to assess skills, qualifications, and alignment to the role and company culture. 
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews with hiring managers, interviewers, and candidates.
  • Maintain regular communication with hiring managers to provide updates on recruitment progress, candidate pipelines, and timelines, ensuring we are providing a positive and inclusive candidate and hiring manager experience
  • Provide mentorship to hiring managers as it relates to compensation, level and position title to both external hires and internal promotions to ensure internal equity is maintained.
  • Extend job offers and negotiate terms of employment with successful candidates Collaborate across People & Culture to onboard new hires and ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
  • Participate or lead special projects as required, including campus recruitment support with our Early Talent team.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven results as an experienced recruiter, preferably in a fast-paced corporate environment with demonstrated ability to proactively source talent.
  • Expertise in Technology and / or Investments recruitment is strongly preferred
  • Strong advisory mindset with the ability to think strategically, problem-solve, and provide valuable insights and recommendations
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement to make well-informed decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish relationships with hiring managers.
  • Proactive and results-oriented with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Capable of confidently engaging with and advising senior leaders
  • Strong service orientation with a desire to exceed expectations and providing a positive and inclusive candidate experience
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize AI-powered recruitment platforms (e.g., Beamery, LinkedIn Recruiter, Workday) to enhance sourcing, screening, and candidate engagement. Familiarity with emerging AI practices in talent acquisition and a willingness to adopt new technologies to improve efficiency, decision-making, and candidate experience.
