The Role:
The Compensation Analyst is responsible for researching trending data and contributing to the development, management and implementation of PetroChina Canada’s (PCC) total compensation programs. This position is further responsible to produce and maintain the personnel budget and provide timely, relevant data to ensure accurate decision making at the executive level with respect to the Employee Value Proposition.
Accountabilities:
The accountabilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Compensation:
- Develop, propose, implement, administer and communicate compensation strategies and programs that enable the organization to attract, retain and motivate top talent
- Analyze data from internal and external sources to complete benchmarking activities and recommend compensation for new hires
- Conduct annual compensation review to ensure alignment with overall compensation strategy and corporate objectives
- Administer annual variable pay programs
- Complete formal and informal surveys and analyze and report on results
- Continuously review compensation practices and recommend changes as required
- Provide support for HR projects, business driven projects and initiatives that encompass any and all aspects of compensation management and analysis
- Represent compensation and total rewards matters across the business
- Develop and maintain a well-rounded professional network of industry peers to enhance the availability of accurate and reliable data
Budgeting & Finance:
- Coordinate regularly with Finance on budget and finance related matters
- Create, optimize and maintain the personnel budget for all departments including:
- working with assets/functions on staffing need
- submitting budgets for approvals
- providing forecasts and accruals
HR Support:
- Maintain organizational structure in SAP
- Provide metrics and reporting on regular or ad hoc requests
- Prepare materials for Director, HR & Communications on employee items and HR matters
- Participate in audit activities
- Provide support and back-up to the Payroll & Benefits function
Qualifications:
- Related undergraduate degree or HR Management Certificate/Degree
- 5-8 years’ previous experience in Human Resources or data analysis required
- Previous experience administering compensation programs
- Experience in oil and gas
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Previous SAP experience
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with proven problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to develop strong relationships and interact in a variety of situations, requiring tact, diplomacy, and discretion
- Strategic thinker with the ability to understand the broader economic issues facing the function and business
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals
- Flexible and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously to meet the time pressure of unpredictable activities in a demanding and dynamic business environment
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team with a positive attitude
