We’re looking for a Facilities & Maintenance Manager to be a part of our growing Canadian (AB & ON) business. The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and delivering on diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems. With the goal of building a 24/7 safety culture and creating a best-in-class operation in the Canadian market, the role also supports the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
The role is situated in Camrose, AB, with occasional travel. There is no camp or remote travel required.

Essential Job Functions
Employee Management
- Manage and supervise the maintenance staff and ensure that all requisite tasks are handled quickly and efficiently within budget restraints
- Oversee and direct maintenance personnel in equipment installation, facilities equipment repair, and preventive maintenance
- Assist in the orientation and training of staff, including onboarding, mentorship, QHSE and process and procedural training
- Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment, including:
- Machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
- Perform plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those as required
- Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of establishment for all service and QHSE compliance
- Act as key stakeholder in all aspects of building maintenance requirements for all new construction, renovations, or updates to current systems
- Coordinate or manage renovation projects or major repair works
- Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for on-site projects
- Measure customer sentiment globally and integrate feedback into strategy;
- Implementation of and delivery on a preventative maintenance plan (to perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities)
- Develop and manage the maintenance budget and maintain inventory of tools and supplies
- Maintain a computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment
- Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work
- Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the maintenance department
- Regularly report on maintenance issues and progress to senior management
- Maintain inventory of new equipment, manuals, and warranties
- Ensure compliance with and documentation for all QHSE regulations
Background and Education:
- High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent is required
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree in a technical field is preferred
- 5 or more years previous management experience in a technical environment with proven leadership abilities
- A journeyman in a trade (Millwright/ Electrician etc.) is preferred
- Direct supervision of trades such as Millwrights, Electricians, Welders as well as labourer staff is essential
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes
- A proven supervisor focused on integrity, confidentiality and accountability
- Experience in the interpretation and implementation of QHSE regulations, programs, and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to identify key issues and to creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles
- Holds a clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, and procedures and other operational issues faced by the organization
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- Solid written and oral communication competences, including conducting meetings
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others
- Maintains a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- The capability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and other stakeholders
