What You’ll Be Doing
As Consultant, Health & Safety, you will contribute to the development of a healthy, safe and inclusive work environment by supporting the mandate of the Health & Safety Team, with a particular focus on ensuring all workplaces have active workplace health and safety representatives and committees, and as appropriate, the first aid readiness program is implemented and remains current in all workplaces. You will also ensure emergency procedures, evacuation plans, and trained emergency and fire safety teams are in place to provide guidance to team members – including team members with disabilities who may require additional support in this regard – in the event of an emergency.

How You’ll Succeed
- Oversight Activities – Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation, as well as internal policies, programs and related resources. Review health and safety requirements for all workplaces and help ensure appropriate emergency/fire safety teams and individual emergency procedure and evacuation plans are in place. Help ensure workplaces have up-to-date first aid readiness programs and provide support to ensure workplaces have a workplace health and safety representative or committee (WHSR/WHSC) as required.
- Process Management – Provide advice and guidance to ensure ongoing compliance with all requirements related to WHSR/WHSC, first aid attendants, and emergency/fire safety teams, and that workplaces update and maintain workplace postings related to health and safety.
- Training and Advisory - Monitor the Health-Safety, mailbox and respond to inquiries or requests for consultation on health and safety matters by providing professional and sound advice within established response timelines. Conduct health and safety awareness orientation sessions, and provide appropriate advice, consultation and guidance to ensure WHSR/WHSC, first aid attendants and emergency/fire safety teams complete all required training. Help workplaces coordinate annual fire drills, training for emergency/fire safety team members and first aid training, as required.
- Continuous Improvement – Identify continuous improvement opportunities to create program efficiencies and ensure high level of quality in all deliverables, processes and procedures. Assist in the implementation of program enhancements.
