Lakeridge Health is seeking a seasoned Sr. Investigation Lead to join our Workplace Investigation team. In this key role, you will be responsible for leading impartial, comprehensive, and timely investigations into complex and sensitive workplace complaints. These include, but are not limited to, allegations of workplace violence, harassment, discrimination, bullying, conflicts of interest, absence abuse, and other forms of misconduct.
Working in close partnership with the Human Resources team, internal stakeholders, legal counsel, and hospital leadership, the Investigator plays a crucial role in supporting a healthy, safe, respectful, and equitable workplace culture.
Standard hours are during the day shift. Flexibility is required, as occasional work outside of regular hours—including evenings, nights, and weekends—may be necessary to meet operational demands.
The Investigator Will
" Conduct full-cycle investigations into complex and sensitive workplace complaints involving both unionized and non-unionized staff
" Develop and execute investigation plans aligned with legislation, collective agreements, and internal policies.
" Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses using a trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach, and analyze evidence from diverse sources.
" Apply credibility assessments to determine policy or legislative breaches and prepare objective, comprehensive reports for HR, legal counsel, and senior leadership.
" Provide expert guidance and peer review on investigations, collaborate with legal counsel, and represent the organization in legal proceedings
" Ensure detailed documentation of all investigative activities and outcomes.
" Prepare for, and participate in legal proceedings, and grievance arbitrations.
" Recommend policy, procedure, and program improvements based on systemic investigation finding
" Support the delivery of training on investigation processes and respectful workplace principles.
Requirements
" Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
" Certification in Workplace Investigations preferred.
" CHRL/CHRP designation is an asset.
" Minimum 5 years of experience conducting complex workplace investigations in a unionized or public sector environment.
" Demonstrated experience using a trauma-informed, culturally competent, and equity-informed lens.
" Familiarity with collective agreements, relevant legislation, and HR best practices.
" Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse individuals in sensitive situations.
" Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
" High professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential and complex matters.
