Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Pharmacy Operations Manager, the Intake Pharmacy Assistant works under
the guidance of the Pharmacist on duty to process new and refill prescriptions, assist with refill scheduling,
program infusion pumps, assist with infusion supplies requirements. The Intake Pharmacy Assistant may
help prepare medications, complete sterile compounding of medication, and maintain the compounding area and equipment, and monitor inventory as appropriate.
Duties And Responsibilities
Education, Certificates and Experience
University degree or diploma in a related discipline plus related experience
Pharmacy Assistant Certificate/Diploma from an accredited institution is preferred. Under no circumstances may a pharmacy assistant mix medications or provide service without a licensed pharmacist present.
Current CPR certification required if involved with direct patient care.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals. Ability to understand basic medical terminology.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and must be able to perform basic algebraic calculations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.

Other Skills And Abilities
Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines
Strong communication and presentation skills
Experience providing detailed reports using MS Excel and internal forms
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist in maintaining federal, provincial, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and
- Policies and Procedures (P&Ps).
- Schedules patient for repeat medications
- Perform prescription data entry to track drug lot numbers as required
- Assists the pharmacist in preparing required infusion supplies for delivery of medication
- Assists the pharmacist in programming pumps and infusion devices for medication delivery
- Assists the pharmacist in entering prescriptions into the prescription software (Kroll), and filling/billing
- such prescriptions
- Assists the pharmacist in filling refill medications through the prescription software (Kroll)
- Assists the pharmacist in preparing compounding sheets for the preparation of medication
- Assists the pharmacists in the preparation and labeling of medications as allowed by law.
- Maintains pharmacy records including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records.
- Cleans work areas routinely in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Communicates appropriately with all members of the healthcare team.
- Documents appropriately according to P&Ps, all activities using required paperwork (logs)
- Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities education programs and
- department/branch meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles
- The employee may be occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
