About The Role

Trans-Canada Capital is seeking a highly skilled Senior Analyst, Data Management, to join its technology team. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, this role is pivotal in managing and governing market data essential for the firm’s investment strategies and risk management processes. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of financial expertise, analytical skills, and technological proficiency. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment, contributing to the firm’s innovative approach to asset management. The role is hybrid, requiring a minimum of four days per week onsite at our downtown Montreal office, facilitating close interaction with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • University degree in administration, finance, information technology, or related field
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience, particularly with market data management
  • Deep understanding of derivatives and financial markets; CFA designation or progress in the CFA program is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and data governance practices
  • Extensive experience with database management and modeling (SQL, data warehouses)
  • Proficiency in Power BI and a strong interest in data visualization and analytics
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to convert complex data into actionable insights
  • Strong attention to detail, rigor, and ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective collaboration skills and ability to work with diverse internal stakeholders
  • Leadership qualities to influence best practices in data governance and management
  • Keen interest in emerging data management technologies and innovations

Responsibilities

  • Manage the data pipeline by overseeing the acquisition, validation, normalization, and distribution of market data
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with market data providers, ensuring data quality, compliance, and continuity of service
  • Negotiate and monitor market data contracts, focusing on cost management and license compliance
  • Ensure the reliability, consistency, and availability of market data across various business lines
  • Collaborate with investment teams and other business units to understand and meet their data needs
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust data models aligned with business requirements
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using Power BI to support strategic decision-making
  • Optimize data access processes and leverage market data efficiently within the organization
  • Lead efforts in establishing and advancing data governance standards, including documentation of data sources, standards, quality, and policies
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure secure and seamless data integration into internal systems
  • Promote a culture emphasizing data quality, integrity, and strategic utilization of data assets
