Day in the life of:

The Director of Corporate Strategy plays a key role in supporting the development, coordination, and execution of CIRO’s strategic plan and annual priorities. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Strategy, this role is responsible for managing key components of the strategic planning cycle, contributing to research and analysis, supporting performance measurement, and helping to ensure organizational alignment around strategic objectives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning, development and coordination of CIRO’s Strategic Plan and annual priorities including assisting with strategic planning sessions, preparing materials, and contributing to project timelines and deliverables
  • Assist in stakeholder engagement activities, both internal and external, to gather input, test assumptions, and support collaboration and change management and organizational alignment efforts
  • Conduct research, analysis, and environmental scans (qualitative and quantitative) to support strategic decision-making and provide insights on regulatory, investor, and industry trends
  • Support the development and monitoring of key performance indicators to measure progress on strategic priorities and leverage data and insights for continuous improvement
  • Prepare executive-level reports, dashboards, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively across departments to help translate strategic objectives into actionable plans
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments and regulatory trends to inform strategy updates and organizational planning
  • Project manage key enterprise-level and transformational strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders, ensuring timely progress, issue resolution, and cross-functional alignment
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and development opportunities to direct reports fostering a high-performing and engaged work environment.


Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience with strategy development and implementation, and project management in the financial services sector or in a related regulatory, public sector, or policy-driven environment
  • Proven expertise and experience in financial services and investments with strong understanding of the complex and broad issues faced by CIRO, investors and the industry
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects with competing deadlines in cross-functional or matrixed environments
  • Experience managing and mentoring staff including supporting professional development and performance management
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, public policy, or a related field required; MBA or equivalent graduate education is an asset
  • Experience with performance measurement and/or data analysis is a strong asset.
