The Corporate Manager, HSE / ESG at Centurion Canada is responsible for supervising, developing, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of HSE & ESG management systems, processes, goals and initiatives, ensuring alignment both within the region and globally. This involves leading and mentoring the HSE & ESG team, collaborating closely with Operations to ensure consistency, growth, and development of HSE & ESG systems within our market. This position will report directly to Senior Management, assess strengths and areas for improvement within our systems, working to establish a culture of HSE excellence and position Centurion Canada as a leader in HSE practices.
Core Responsibilities:
- Guide, mentor, and support HSE/ESG staff through regular supervision, direction, and collaboration.
- Review, sign off, and ensure consistent implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and processes.
- Perform regular field visits, evaluations, and equipment inspections to uphold safety culture and ensure alignment.
- Compile, analyze, and present reports, trends, and key metrics to Operations and Senior Management.
- Develop, align, and implement strategies and initiatives consistent with business objectives and global standards.
- Oversee adherence to regulatory requirements, certifications, and reporting platforms.
- Promote communication, engagement, and initiatives that strengthen organizational safety and sustainability culture.
- Work with Operations and Senior Management to ensure alignment across business lines and regions.
- Direct, review, and communicate outcomes of investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions.
- Oversee training programs, initiatives, and priorities to ensure staff competency and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities, monitor effectiveness, and enhance systems, strategies, and programs.
- Ensure transparent and open communication of strategies, issues, and performance at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in OH&S or related field of study, and minimum of 10 years’ of related oil & gas/construction operations/safety experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 5+ years’ in a Management role with an operations background is an asset.
- OH&S Certificate and/or CRSP designation is an asset; NCSO designation at a minimum.
- Expert knowledge of Federal, Provincial, and Municipal OH&S regulations; ESG knowledge/experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of WCB/LTD processes and procedures, including claims management and related legislation.
- Experience with accident investigation, workplace inspection, and job hazard analysis.
- Proven ability to effectively plan and direct the work of the department and manage its staff and resolve conflict in a positive and constructive manner.
- Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrate elements of emotional intelligence including self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, and relationship management.
- Experience with hours-of-service requirements and federal driver regulations considered an asset, particularly in relation to compliance monitoring and transportation safety programs.
- Analytical thinking, strong judgement, and complex problem-solving.
- 50% travel as required to operating locations including Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Spirit River, Provost, Dawson Creek, Edson, Rocky Mtn. House, Nanton, and Calgary is an essential part of this role.
- Cross-functional knowledge of drilling, completions, and general oil & gas operations.
- Proven ability to influence business leaders and gain buy-in on initiatives and programs.
- Knowledge of change management to improve processes and engage teams.
