THE SCOPE
As Director of Sales, you will report to executive leadership and play a key role in driving profitable revenue growth, expanding market presence, and leading a high-performing sales organization by example. This is both a hands-on and strategic leadership position—ideal for someone who excels at building strategy, who enjoys directly mentoring teams, and who can drive operational execution from the sales function perspective.
You will engage heavily with Operations to ensure a seamless experience for both the sales team and their customers, creating stronger alignment between the sales approach, market development, and service delivery. You will work cross-functionally between sales, marketing, operations, and HR to align efforts and ensure the sales function supports broader organizational goals.
This is a role that demands strong commercial instincts, a proactive leadership style, and the ability to lead both from the front and through others.
THE LEADER
We are seeking a proven sales leader with a history of driving growth, shaping strategy, and mentoring/developing high-performing teams. While professionals from the building products and construction supply chain will be naturally suited to this position, our client is very open-minded to considering individuals from outside the building products sector. Individuals working within product-based industries who bring a strong understanding of distribution and customer-focused markets will be equally considered.
The ideal candidate has at least 10 years of progressive sales experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior management/ leadership role. Experience managing multi-location or regional sales operations is required. You will have a demonstrated ability to succeed in project-driven markets where reliability, face-to-face service, and customer care are paramount, along with proven success in managing pricing, margins, and overall profitability.
This role requires a leader who can operate confidently at both the strategic and operational level. Above all, you must be a builder. A builder of people, of process, and of sustainable customer relationships and market value.
