We currently have a BAS Estimation Coordinator opportunity available to join our Building Controls team based in Vaughan. We are looking for motivated, technically inclined individuals who enjoy working on a wide variety of construction estimating tasks, are quick to learn, and are keen to make a significant contribution to a successful and growing company. OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and proactively maintain Modern Niagara’s Estimating inbox and calendar within Outlook
- Participate in Estimating Team Meetings and Huddles, taking notes of action items when necessary
- Create and attend Estimating Bid Review meetings, Turnover meetings, etc.
- Liaise and maintain up-to-date communication with external stakeholders including suppliers, vendors, sub-trades, clients, etc.
- Manage Estimating documentation folders on Procore, ensure documentation such as drawings, RFIs, etc. are updated regularly
- Collect info and create proposals for new bids, prequalification, and proposals, collaborating with Executive Assistant on content, format and proofing
- Update Modern Niagara’s internal Database and Dashboard for executive management reporting
- Perform additional related duties as required under the direction and guidance of the hiring manager.
- Post-secondary diploma in mechanical or construction technology or other relevant technology field or extensive experience in a mechanical contracting trade. Engineer or CET considered an asset or equivalent experience in the field.
- 2-3 years of practical experience in organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for construction projects working in both the subcontractor and prime contractor capacity
- Experience in reading and interpreting construction drawings and documents.
- Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze and understand construction drawings, associated documentation, contracts, cost coding systems and work breakdown structures.
- Hands on experience preparing of estimates from conceptual to definitive as well as preparing financial and statistical analyses.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Self-motivated with strong willingness and ability to learn and be challenged
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a multi-trade environment with a high degree of interaction between management, estimation and field resources
- Client service and customer focus to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong computer skills with hands-on working knowledge of MS 365, particularly Excel
- Team player, energetic, resourceful, reliable and timely
- Eager to work and learn in a fast-paced industry
- Comfortable working in an office setting
- Understanding of mechanical building systems (plumbing and HVAC) is an asset
