What is the Opportunity?

The HR Specialist will play a key role in designing and delivering enterprise and sector-specific resources and tools that enhance Aecon’s HR practices and procedures. This role combines strategic program design with hands-on execution, ensuring high-quality, business-aligned initiatives.

What You'll Do Here

  • Ensure compliance with new and changing employment legislation across Canada by rolling out new processes, creating resource materials and tools, and implementing a change management plan
  • Proactively find opportunities to create efficiencies and continuous improvement in Aecon’s HR practices, including using AI tools like CoPilot
  • Liaising with key stakeholders to gather information, process definition, communication plans, change management and roll-out plans
  • Oversee organizational governance with an entrepreneurial mindset in developing organizational governance in new countries and territories, such as the US
  • Creatively bring ideas to life, design and develop appropriate content for the selected delivery method
  • Advanced research and data analysis skills and a demonstrated ability to draw associated insights and make effective recommendations
  • Recognize business need, engage and collaborate with the business when new projects or requests are made
  • Troubleshoot issues as required


What You Bring To The Team

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Human Resources capacity
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management preferred
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong ability to manage logistics, timelines and deliver consistently high-quality results
  • Highly organized with strong project coordination skills; thrives in managing multiple projects and delivering polished outcomes
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear and professional content for a variety of audiences
  • Proactive and accountable, takes full ownership of projects, anticipates needs, and drives initiatives forward independently
  • Strong analytical, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and move initiatives forward across diverse stakeholders groups
  • Ability to successfully navigate a fast-paced, complex and changing work environment, while managing multiple and shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated ability and confidence in presenting and delivering content to end users, which in some cases can be fairly complex information
  • Highly developed problem-solving ability and critical thinking skills
  • Strong ability to collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
