The Director leads and develops a small, collaborative team that creates and delivers client-driven, project-based, practical research and advisory services to help HR leaders drive measurable results in their organizations.

As a Director, You Will
- Coach and develop a team of analysts engaged in research creation, client advisory services, and client workshops.
- Contribute to McLean thought leadership in the development of actionable, innovative insights and published research. Function as a taxonomy owner and recommend a research agenda for their taxonomy areas.
- Lead project teams. Conduct regular working sessions with project teams to assess research progress and effectiveness, and to challenge the teams to develop innovative insights.
- Participate in ongoing peer review to give and receive constructive feedback to continuously improve quality of research projects.
- Deliver client-facing subject matter expertise, insights, and advice through advisory calls, workshop facilitation, consulting, and presentations.
- Lead the scoping, development, and facilitation of on-site workshops to assist members in accelerating their HR projects.
- Partner with our commercial teams to demonstrate “proof of concept” for our advisory services to potential clients, and to scope out client workshops and/or consulting engagements.
- Advance team processes, practices, and/or operations by acting as a prime for a particular process, practice, operation or area.
- Proven ability to motivate, coach, empower, and performance manage staff to deliver organizational goals, while also delivering value back to employees.
- Collaborative, with superior listening, critical thinking, and writing skills.
- Strong project and time management skills.
- Ability to coach staff on the conduct and synthesis of primary and secondary research.
- Proven ability to create frameworks around fuzzy or unstructured topics, to enable colleagues and clients with executable, practical solutions to HR challenges.
- Thinks beyond the confines of traditional models to generate insights, recognize opportunities and find new and better ways to do things.
- Demonstrated ability to make informed decisions that demonstrate a broader scope of contextual and business understanding, rather than just an HR focus.
- Solid track record in developing and maintaining internal and external trusting, professional relationships while offering solutions to fit the internal or external client’s needs.
- Superior presentation skills, with demonstrated accomplishment as a facilitator of internal or external client group sessions.
- Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, flexible, rapidly changing work environment.
- Intellectually curious about the effect of HR on the business landscape, with a passion for continuous learning.
- Solid business instincts and a practical understanding of what makes companies tick and how HR professionals operate.
- University degree.
- 10+ years of experience in Human Resources, with depth of knowledge in at least 5 of McLean & Company’s HR Taxonomy areas.
- 5+ years’ experience in complex HR projects
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a people manager.
- Specialized experience in Talent Management, Workforce Planning and/or HR Technology.
- A specialized degree or diploma in Business, Psychology, Human Resources or Adult Education.
- CHRL or similar HR professional designation.
- Experience and familiarity with formal research methods.
