This is a part time casual position with 14-21 hours per week.


Key
Responsibilities:

Under the general supervision of the Library Help Desk Supervisor, the Library Services Operations Assistant provides front-line support to students, faculty, staff, and the public. This role involves a wide range of responsibilities that require both technical proficiency, adaptability, attention to detail, and a commitment to providing excellent service in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. Key duties include:

  • Circulating a broad range of equipment and reading materials, promoting both academic success and personal enrichment.
  • Providing basic reference assistance and responding to directional and informational inquiries, while triaging more complex questions to appropriate staff.
  • Operating and supporting large-format printing & finishing services, ensuring high-quality output for posters and presentations.
  • Assisting students with the use of assistive technologies and software, promoting accessibility and inclusive learning.
  • Participating in back-end library software tasks and operational projects, contributing to the smooth functioning of library systems and services


Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of library management system processes, back-end and front-facing.
  • Knowledge of productivity and design software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe creative cloud applications.
  • Knowledge of project printing & finishing equipment and software.
  • Knowledge of Learning Technologies including assistive technology devices and software
  • Knowledge of resource sharing activities including interlibrary loan
  • Good understanding of related customer service methods and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Application of high-level accuracy when handling repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, public-facing environment.
  • Flexibility, open-mindedness and the ability to deal with change in a positive manner.


Qualifications:

  • Completion of grade twelve
  • 2-year Library and Information Technician diploma
  • 1-year of related experience
  • Equivalencies may be considered

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).


Remuneration: $23.81 - $30.38 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of stat holidays and vacation accrual. (Classification – Library Technician I).


This casual opportunity is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
