At NAIT, where we’ve been training Sheet Metal Worker apprentices since 1962. The Program prepares students to fabricate, assemble, install and service various products and equipment using materials such as galvanized iron, black iron, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass PVC and fibreglass. The program also teaches students how to use laser or plasma cutting equipment, numerically controlled or computerized equipment, and hand or power shears and snips to cut, drill, punch, bend and shape sheet metal.
We are currently recruiting for a continuous instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
The successful candidate will:

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, virtual, laboratory and industry setting
- Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
- Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal Skills

- Strong knowledge of computers and accessories.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Completion of Sheet Metal Worker Alberta Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal required
- Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent.
- Additional relevant post-secondary education and/or professional development training
- Teaching experience preferred
- HRAI Experience would be preferred
- Custom Shop and residential appliance service experience considered an asset
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
