Purpose
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the maintenance and repair operations of Sysco's facilities, equipment, and grounds, ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment. This role is responsible for leading a team of maintenance technicians, coordinating preventive maintenance programs, managing repairs, and ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company standards. This position is critical to maintaining the smooth operation of Sysco's distribution network. This is an Operations position responsible for directing the activities associated with the general maintenance, repair and appearance of the facility, refrigeration systems, outside grounds, office space, security, power industrial equipment including Material Handling Equipment as well as managing third party providers. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, expense management, compliance with government regulations, ensuring safety and security of the building, its contents and people and providing supervision and direction to a small group of facility maintenance staff. The position is also responsible for administrative duties including parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking and cost control through maintenance systems and hands-on technician support as needed.
Responsibilities
Oversee all plant and equipment performance - schedules, tracks and completes preventive maintenance as noted in the equipment manufacturer's guidelines, ensures workmanship and keep downtimes to a minimum
Supervises the daily work and safety of associates and third-party contractors engaged in building, grounds, sanitation, refrigeration systems, powered industrial equipment and security.
Supervises labor hours and consumable supplies within budget. Prepares work schedules of third-party contractors and maintenance staff including extra workdays and shifts as needed.
Communicates maintenance information and concerns, and coordinates PM schedules with department heads, staff and third-party contractors.
Supervises or leads the proper selection and purchase of approved POs, utilization and inventory of Company assets in support of the facilities departments. Coordinates with other departments as necessary to ensure upgrades and repairs are completed efficiently and effectively.
Works with Operations Manager to prepare budget, profit plans and capital requests as required. Evaluates metrics and adjusts activities to meet or exceed performance expectations.
Suggests efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assists with the implementation of changes within fleet and facility maintenance, power industrial equipment and security.
Works with Operations Manager to establish preventative maintenance schedules for all systems, equipment, and buildings including understanding of refrigeration system, HVAC Systems, fire protection and security Systems, electrical and energy management, dock doors/dock plate systems, power industrial equipment, building components (roof, interior & exterior floors/walls, doors, paved surfaces and landscaping).
Supervises priorities, assigns and monitors facility projects for quality and timely completion. Utilizes maintenance tracking software (CMMS) for task management.
Conducts audits ensuring all required inspections and documentation are completed accurately (including but not limited to food safety documentation, etc.) and retained to ensure minimum potential for loss.
Maintains associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings; maintains on-going interaction; keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors associate morale; and submits and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.
Interprets, trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures.
Assists the Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes, and routine safety inspections. Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
Performs the duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed.
Performs the duties of a journeyman as required.
Ensures accurate and up-dated re-certifications of commercial equipment
Complies with local, provincial and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. OHS, CFIA, etc.)
Participate in departmental on-call program, as designated
Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety
Adhere to Organization and the Facilities Department policies and procedures including appropriate attire e.g. PPE, grooming and attendance
Responsible for housekeeping, cleanup of all maintenance areas on a daily basis
Maintains all tools and equipment in clean, safe, working order
Interact effectively, build relationships, and demonstrate a high level of cooperation
Accountable for the accuracy of timecards, approvals and scheduling of direct reports
Responsible for compliance with all Policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) comprising Sysco's Food Safety Program, specific for the assigned role.
Assist Food Safety Program Manager in ensuring compliance to Sysco's Food Safety Program that leads to compliance with third party certification and customer requirements.
Understands that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization.

Skills
One to two years of leadership experience in a similar position.
Three to five years of industrial maintenance experience; in a food processing HACCP environment.
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); plus, completion of additional courses, licenses or certifications related to maintenance.
Trade school or equivalent qualifications is preferred.
Certificate in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and braking systems preferred.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Working knowledge of Freon systems.
Working knowledge of environmental regulations/legislation and governing bodies.
Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle may be required (up to 10%).
Excellent knowledge of building systems, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and refrigeration systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, FDA, etc.) and building codes.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Budget management experience.
Education
High school diploma or GED, trade school or equivalent.
