Our expectations

Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance and PMO, the Director, Strategic Sourcing & Procurement will be responsible for developing and implementing efficient, cost-effective procurement, strategic sourcing strategies, innovative practices for all goods & services not for resale (GNFR). This includes but is not limited to sourcing, market & business analysis, supplier selection, contract negotiation, execution and implementation as well as overseeing requisition processing/approval.

Your role

Global Strategy & Operations

  • Develop the global sourcing & procurement strategies, execute the plan, encompassing organizational requirements, departmental growth, and vision for one-year, three-year, and five-year projections.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global organizational sourcing strategy and plans.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements.
  • Keep abreast of market dynamics, technological advancements in sourcing & procurement, suggest, then implement best practices/innovative solutions.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement.

Vendor & Relationship Management

  • Strategically expand and diversify the vendor network to drive efficiency/mitigate risks.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, fostering open communication, trust, collaboration to ensure a reliable/sustainable value chain.
  • Negotiate to finalize contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the organization.
  • Advise the Executive Committee on contractual rights, obligations, provide interpretation of terms and conditions.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to ensure success of procurement strategies.

Performance Reporting and Analysis

  • Establish and monitor key metrics/KPIs to measure the performance, effectiveness of the procurement function as well as vendor performance.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for cost savings.
  • Present findings, recommendations, and strategic insights to senior management in a clear and concise manner.
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate tracking/reporting of procurement-related expenses.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with procurement activities, working closely with legal team.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard RONA’s interests.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

People Management

  • Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture.
  • Foster a high driven and engaged culture within the team that promotes a commitment to operational excellence.
  • Set clear goals, objectives and monitor performance against key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Provide professional development opportunities for team members.

The Qualifications We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or a related field.
  • Ten (10) plus years of proven experience in procurement, with at least five (5) years in a leadership role.
  • Vast experience in sourcing of GNFR and indirect procurement.
  • Experience working with AI and technology to enhance efficiencies (considered an asset).
  • Excellent communication skills; fluent French and English, given the national nature of the responsibilities/duties of this role.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for details.
  • Experience with BI or other reporting tools.
  • A team player, exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-on, prioritize tasks, eager to take up challenges and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to track, to drive results and to take accountability, able to build positive relationships with ease and influence at all levels
