A career as a Senior Legal Counsel in the Advisory Services team, Legal Affairs – National Bank Financial means acting as a strategic partner on a wide range of stimulating mandates with the Capital Markets and Wealth Management business units. This role allows you to make a positive impact on our organization through your expertise in law, and legal risk management.
Your Job
  • Act as legal counsel to business units for activities related to financial markets, wealth management, and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, including transactional, corporate, and financing contracts.
  • Anticipate and align legal and regulatory requirements with business needs.
  • Handle complex files involving significant strategic and reputational issues.
  • Collaborate with external organizations and international legal advisors.
  • Contribute to special projects by providing targeted expertise.
Your TeamWithin the Legal Affairs – National Bank Financial sector, you’ll be part of a dynamic team of about thirty specialists, reporting to the Vice President, Legal Advisory Services, NBF Legal Affairs. Our team supports the growth of business units and subsidiaries in Capital Markets and Wealth Management by assisting with a variety of activities such as securities brokerage, portfolio management, corporate financing, distribution, and negotiation of strategic commercial contracts. We also advise senior management on strategic initiatives, including acquisitions.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in law and member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in business law.
  • Strong skills in legal analysis and drafting of complex agreements.
  • A strong interest in finance and investment.
