Shared Health (1502-155 Carlton Street, Winnipeg MB, R3C 5R9) is inviting applications for a full-time Pediatric Radiologist to fill our labour shortage in Manitoba. Main job duties include perform, interpret and provide consultation on medical images for prenatal and patients ranging in age from newborn to young adult. All job duties are required in English.
The Section of Pediatric Radiology is responsible for all body, musculoskeletal, thoracic, and CNS imaging in pediatric patients. The Section currently conducts 52,568 exams per year, (33,881 plain film, 556 Fluoroscopy, 9189 ultrasound, 3952 MRI and 3903 CT). Seven congenial pediatric Radiologists work in the section (3 full time and 4 part-time). On call duties are shared equally by 7 radiologists. This posting is to accommodate general increasing demand for services in pediatric radiology, as well as anticipated future increases in service scope to include off site image interpretation to remote and rural areas of Manitoba.
On site there are 2 radiography rooms, 1 fluoroscopy suite, 5 ultrasound imaging rooms, 1 CT scanner (Siemens FLASH), 1 MRI (Siemens 1.5 T), and access to a 3T MRI. Employment duties include interpreting a full range of diagnostic imaging studies. We encourage close cooperation with our clinical colleagues with many scheduled clinical-imaging rounds. All section members hold academic appointments with the University of Manitoba. The section prides itself on its dedication to teaching radiology residents, pediatric residents and medical students. Participation in research is encouraged. Future duties may include remote supervision of imaging examinations in Northern and remote communities.
The Section is located in a state-of-the-art pediatric imaging center. The Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg is the only referral center for pediatrics in Manitoba, with catchments areas extending to include portions of Nunavut and NW Ontario.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine degree with specialization in Pediatric Radiology. The successful candidate must be eligible for certifications with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba. Fellowship in Pediatric Radiology is required. Experience in non-vascular interventional radiology would be an asset but not required.
Alternatively, equivalent credentials in another jurisdiction to be assessed by the University of Manitoba for licensure in Manitoba.
Compensation
Compensation is through an Alternately Funded Agreement ($510,000.00/annual). Benefits are not available at this time.
