Responsibilities
Our national client with a global footprint is seeking an Assistant Controller to report into the Controller and work closely with the CFO. This is a fast paced, growing environment and your main responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Financial Accounting and Reporting including Month-End and Year-End Close
- General Ledger Maintenance and Management including supervision of the AP processes
- Budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
- Streamline accounting processes using technology and best practices. Assist with ERP and financial system upgrades
- Internal Controls & Compliance and Audit support
- Supervise, mentor, and train junior accounting staff (currently 1 direct report), fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.
- Tax Compliance
- Other duties, professional tasks and special projects as assigned by the Controller, CFO , or other company leaders.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and CPA designation.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Previous experience in a professional services environment is preferred.
- Strong proficiency with accounting software, Microsoft Excel (advanced), and other MS Office applications. Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP, ASPE, and relevant tax regulations.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Bilingual English / French is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage and support stakeholders at all levels, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced professional setting.
