Reporting to the Manager, Office of Student Conduct and Accountability, the Concern, Assessment, Response, and Engagement (CARE) Coordinator will coordinate and champion a multi-faceted strategy to promote student success and retention, reduce risk, and enhance overall community well-being and safety through non-clinical case management by identifying needs, removing barriers, leveraging resources, and fostering student self-efficacy.


The CARE Coordinator’s primary purpose is to ensure students receive the appropriate support to navigate challenges through comprehensive case triaging, educational outreach, and collaboration with internal and external resources.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and triage student well-being concerns, conducting risk assessments and coordinating appropriate resources for intervention and case resolution.
  • Lead the Early Alert project, ensuring the effective operation of the system, training faculty, and collaborating with support services to address at-risk students.
  • Provide goal-oriented, non-clinical case management and support for students facing emotional, academic, or psychological challenges.
  • Educate and train NAIT staff and students on identifying well-being concerns, making referrals, and understanding the referral process.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external partners to facilitate resource referrals and student support.
  • Manage administrative tasks such as meeting agendas, responding to inquiries, tracking data, and maintaining records.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective communication, both verbal and written, alongside exemplary listening and public speaking skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution and crisis management abilities, with a focus on trauma-informed practice and risk assessment.
  • Skilled in independent decision-making, prioritizing workloads, and critical thinking to resolve problems and assess situations.
  • Experienced in student development theory, case management, and building relationships through cultural competency and sensitivity.
  • Proficient in building rapport and supporting individuals through crisis, using a deep understanding of trauma and relevant intervention strategies.


Qualifications:

  • Related Diploma required
  • Undergraduate and Master degree in a relevant field like Education, Psychology, Health, or Social Work preferred
  • Experience in psychometry preferred
  • Experience in non-clinical case management in a higher education setting preferred
  • Certification and experience with the application of structured professional judgment risk assessment tools required


Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).


Remuneration: $61,997.52 - $83,085.08 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Coordinator I).


This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
