Instructor, Plumbing (Term Full-Time)
Piping Trades POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated November 3, 2025 up to June 30, 2026) SALARY: $63,375 - $96,946 per annum*
Reporting to the Chair of the Piping Trades department, the Instructor is required to deliver both the theoretical and practical aspects of Plumbing to apprentices and pre-employment students in the Plumbing program, including instruction into related trades. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, trade safety, tools and equipment, piping and materials, regulations and project installation, and plumbing code. Duties include, but not limited to: development and modification of curriculum, conduct student assessment and counseling, perform lab and classroom facility design and setup, maintain lab and classroom equipment and perform related administrative responsibilities as required. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Piping Trades POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated November 3, 2025 up to June 30, 2026) SALARY: $63,375 - $96,946 per annum*
- The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.
Reporting to the Chair of the Piping Trades department, the Instructor is required to deliver both the theoretical and practical aspects of Plumbing to apprentices and pre-employment students in the Plumbing program, including instruction into related trades. Topics covered will include, but are not limited to, trade safety, tools and equipment, piping and materials, regulations and project installation, and plumbing code. The incumbent is also required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid inter-provincial journeyperson's certificate (Red Seal) in Plumbing Valid Red Seal in another piping trade may be considered
- Significant related industry experience in the commercial and / or residential aspects of the trade
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Ability to teach on campus and remotely
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
- Experience using a variety of hand tools and machines
- Experience reading blueprints
- Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
- Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
- Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
- Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
- Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
- This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
- Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
- May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
