For patients, for each other, and for the future of science, we’re in. Are you?

About The Role

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Scientist who has either graduate level skills or a foundation level knowledge in chemistry, bioscience, or a related discipline with the aptitude and interest to develop skills in the storage, handling, and management of small molecules and oligonucleotides. This is an opportunity to train and become a key architect in building Insmed Cambridge compound management systems.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate across functions including Chemistry, Biology, Informatics and Lab Operations in the setup, organisation, and management of our compound inventory and data platforms.
  • Develop, standardise and continuously optimise standard operating procedures for compound weighing, dissolution, tube labelling, barcode tracking, sample handling, and data integration into informatics systems.
  • Manage and fulfill routine requests per the standardised workflows for solid and liquid compound samples with precise weighing, dissolution and inventory tracking.
  • Prepare assay ready plates and format compounds as needed for screening and biological testing.
  • Maintain accurate records in electronic data systems (e.g., Dotmatics) to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • In collaboration with our Lab Operations team, optimize and execute protocols for compliant domestic and international shipments of compounds; ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, and registration of incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot liquid handling platforms, dispensing equipment, and analytical instrumentation to support compound processing, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and minimal downtime.
  • Proactively communicate with stakeholders and internal teams to keep everyone aligned on timelines, status updates, and potential issues.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety, and the maintenance of high-quality standards in all compound management workflows.
  • Contribute actively to a collaborative, innovative, and improvement-driven working environment where new ideas are encouraged and shared. Communicate progress and plans to scientific teams and leadership.

What We Are Looking For

  • BSc in Chemistry, Bioscience or a related discipline.
  • Some practical experience with weighing balances, fume hoods, and standard chemical handling and dissolution procedures, ensuring safe and accurate sample preparation.
  • Strong numeracy skills with the ability to perform essential lab-based calculations such as molarity, dilutions, and weight-to-volume conversions.
  • Comfortable with routine and repetitive tasks; maintaining focus, accuracy, and consistency in fast-paced environments.
  • Enthusiastic about learning and working with informatics systems and laboratory automation to support modern scientific workflows.
