Join us in shaping the future of optical networking. Our flagship product, the WaveLogic 6 Extreme coherent optical modem, has set a world-record 1.6 Tbps transmission rate and is deployed across major networks worldwide.

  • Develop embedded software for next-generation optical modems.
  • Design, code, and support drivers, diagnostics, and applications using C/C++, Bash, and Python.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, and test teams to deliver robust solutions.
  • Create end-user documentation and contribute to evaluation software development kit designs.
  • Follow state-of-the-art software development processes adhering to industry standards and ensuring traceability.
  • Enhance CI/CD workflows via defect reduction, script development, and test utility creation.
  • Grow and innovate within a dynamic, supportive engineering environment.

The Must Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in C, C++, and Python programming languages.
  • Solid understanding of structured programming and software design principles.

Assets

  • Familiarity with datacom and telecom concepts (e.g., DWDM, SONET/SDH, OTN, Ethernet, OSI Model, TCP/IP).
  • Experience with SPI and I2C driver development, security, and board bring-up.
  • Knowledge of real-time operating systems and Linux OS.
  • Proficiency with debugging tools like gdb and unit testing frameworks such as Unity, CMocka, and JUnit.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
  • Skills in high-level programming and scripting languages (e.g., Java, Perl, Tcl, Bash) for automation and application development.

The annual pay range for this position is $66,400-106,000.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
