The Opportunity
Keyano College is currently seeking a contract Electrical Instructor. Reporting to the Chair of Metal Trades and Electrical, the successful candidate will be required to prepare classroom and Lab lessons, prepare exams, and learning material complete with demonstrations as directed in curriculum and course outlines in all aspects of the Electrician program. The primary duties of a teaching faculty, as it relates to their assigned teaching workload in their respective program, shall include:- Curriculum development and enhancement
- preparation for instruction
- instruction in the classroom/lab
- continuous professional development to maintain currency in one's discipline
- incorporate teaching and learning strategies that support student academic success
- student consultation and advisement on future career paths in their discipline
- supervision and evaluation of students, and supporting with procedural matters related to teaching and learning and the student experience
- must comply with Human Rights Legislation as well as college policies and procedures and collective agreement obligations regarding equity, inclusion and diversity.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a Red Seal Journeyperson status.
- Minimum 5 years' post-journeyperson experience in an industrial and/or commercial environment.
- Instruction and mentoring experience will also be considered.
- Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and motivation skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- A passion for student success.
- Strong communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in the learning environment.
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
- Adult Education Certification would be considered an asset.
