We are seeking a Reactive Equipment Support Team Lead to join our Maintenance & Operations Engineering Support (MOES)
Department. Under the general direction of the Section Head of MOES Electrical Section A, will lead the Reactive Equipment
Support Team providing technical expertise for the operation, repair, and maintenance of HVDC and reactive equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical direction and support to engineering workgroups, technicians and personnel for the operation, maintenance,
repair and commissioning of HVDC and reactive equipment.
  • Lead, mentor, train, and develop team members to become well-versed technical experts in HVDC, reactive and related
equipment.
  • Develop, modify, evaluate and optimize maintenance philosophies and plans for HVDC, reactive and related equipment.
  • Identify and implement reliability and efficiency improvements as well as cost saving initiatives with respect to historical

processes pertaining to the HVDC, reactive and related equipment, such as automated information collection processes and
service agreements.

  • Using expert knowledge, identify the root cause of HVDC and reactive equipment failures.
  • Provide definitive recommendations and in-depth, expert, risk-based analysis to the Asset Owner regarding failure
remediation including but not limited to; operate with failure, repair, replace.
  • Interface with designers, maintainers, manufacturers, and other industry specialists to further Manitoba Hydro's expertise with
respect to transformers and related assets to improve efficient and reliable use of the corporation's key assets.
  • Provide expert review of technical specifications and design reports with respect to HVDC, reactive and related equipment to

ensure quality standard is achieved and design requirements are to be met.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate in Electrical Engineering from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of seven years of relevant
experience in the design, operation and maintenance of electrical HVDC and reactive equipment including two years of
supervisory experience.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba
Hydro policy P513.
  • Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a
specified amount of time).
  • Expert knowledge in the standards, theory, maintenance, testing, and operation of HVDC, reactive and related equipment.
  • Expert knowledge of industry maintenance practices.
  • Proven mentorship abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and equipment specific industry standards (i.e. CSA, IEEE, IEC)

  • Experience in developing maintenance standards and strategies based on industry best practices and/or RCM methodologies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work behaviours.
  • Familiar with asset management principles.
  • Familiar with Matlab, PSCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.34-$70.34 Hourly,
$98,380.88-$134,784.78 Annually.
